It might seem like that pimple is staring right back at you in the mirror but it really isn’t. Sure, it’s big and unsightly. And you want it gone as quickly as possible. You might have tried creams and lotions to get rid of it and it’s still there. At this point, you are thinking of doing something drastic. You are going to pop or squeeze that pimple. That should get rid of it once and for all. Well, don’t do it. Popping or squeezing a pimple is the absolute worst thing that you can do when you are fighting acne.
When you get an acne breakout, it is because there is a buildup of dust, dirt and other toxins on and below the surface of your skin. These pollutants are clogging up your pores and making it difficult for your body to expel the dirt. The best course of action is to clean the surface of the skin and allow the body to resume working naturally again. But when cleaning doesn’t work as fast as you want it to, you probably turn to another treatment.
You might try some of the over the counter products that claim they can knock out acne immediately. Some of them actually work but a lot of them don’t. And the chemicals contained in some of these products can actually harm your skin more than the original acne. So now that the chemical treatments haven’t worked, you start seriously considering just popping the pimple and putting it out of its misery.
There is one very good reason why you should never pop a pimple. Pimples are made up of all of the toxins and pollutants that you are trying to rid you skin of. The minute you pop that pimple, you are releasing all of these toxins right back on your skin. You may have killed one pimple but you have spawned dozens more. You have unleashed a toxic torrent that will certainly come back to haunt you. You have defeated the purpose of fighting acne in the first place.
So the next time that you even consider popping or squeezing a pimple, stop and consider what you are actually doing, Those few seconds of thought may save you weeks of acne related embarrassment.
